The history of the Laafs:
Once upon a time, long, long ago, the peace loving Laafs lived in a beautiful
land. This was located at the North Pole, where the Laps now live. At that
time, the North Pole was deliciously warm and the Laafs lived outdoors,
not needing to build houses for shelter. Wild goats wandered the hillsides
and provided the Laafs with milk and cheese. Fruits and berries grew in
abundance and streams of clear cool water flowed across the land of the
Laafs. It was truly the land of milk and honey.
The laafs all share the same mother and father. Father Laaf, Patriarch of
the clan and Mother Lot, the mother of all Laafs. Mother Lot is very important
to the Laafs, not only because she is their mother but also because she
gives immortality to all Laafs. The Laafs are very remarkable folks, but
as everyone knows, when they grow old, they can run out of steam. When this
happens, the Laaf must go see Mother Lot who then gives the Laaf some of
her steam. This steam then rejuvenates the Laaf and he then begin life anew.
Father Laaf was the first to ever run out of steam. This happened when the
North Pole was growing cold. Gradually, the North Pole became covered with
ice, as we now know it to be today, and the cold weather crept threateningly
close to the habitat of the Laafs. The Laafs shivered and some turned a
frightening blue color. Father Laaf came up with a solution the the Laafs
would dig deep into the earth where it would be warm. Mother Lot gathered
all of her sons and retreated to the warmth below but Father did not realize
they had already gone towards safety. As he searched for his family, the
temperatures grew colder. He finally stumbled towards the hole in the earth
but it was too late, Father Laaf had run out of steam. In memory of Father
Laaf they built a great statue of the Patriarch to take with them on their
journey underground.
Their interesting journey would last for thousands of years. There are records
of Laafs popping to the earth's surface throughout history. In 1989, the
Laafs entered into a cheerful land called the Efteling in the Netherlands.

while creating a beautiful and original environment.

"Ooh and Ah are the most honored comments on my work," smiles

Adoption:
Each Laaf arrives with an official Laaf Passport detailing the family
history and personal information. One important page of the passport is
a reply card addressed to Mother Lot and adoptive parents are encouraged
to send the card in to let her know where her children are living
throughout the world. This, also, registers the owner as an official adoptive
parent.
The passport tells the story of the Laafs and contains a unique number.
For Example:
º 20002.02.18880 is your passport number.
º 20002 is the item number.
º 02 indicates the Laafs have traveled to America.
º 18880 in the unique limited edition number of the specific piece.
The Laaf coin is included in the adoption booklet and is
designed to be placed in a specific spot on each piece.
Should a Laaf become sick or break an arm, he can be sent to the Laaf
Hospital where he will receive proper care and fully recover.
